My criteria for purchasing any product on Amazon basically is to try to buy products that I can list for 3 times the price I pay for it. Because Amazon takes about 40 percent of any sale using this method guarantees I can make a profit.

That’s the only frustrating part of this business – the time it often takes your product to arrive at Amazon is usually longer than you would like it to be. You’ll be so excited to get your product, and so pumped from the training, so that eight week waiting period can be an absolute torture. It also can play a role in managing inventory (discussed later).

I’ve also learned that ANYONE can go through it and be successful, despite their budget.  My girlfriend, who doesn’t have much money (she works as a server and goes to school part-time), was able to purchase an inventory of her product (1000 units) for only $600.  So you don’t need A LOT of money to get started with it, it all depends on what product or niche you decide to go with.  She also has ZERO online marketing experience (she’s been doing everything on her iPad, since her computer is broken) and has been able to understand and complete all of the steps.  She is actually much further along than I am with the training and doing better than I am, which amazes me since I am the one with all the online marketing experience!

To be honest, there’s really no harm in doing a test run. Many IMers today are not making any money that’s why it’s hard for them to launch a test on Amazon for a few hundred bucks. There’s really no way to know if this product works or not. If it does work, then fine, just another avenue to earn more online. If it does not work, then it’s just a few hundred bucks. Nothing to cry about. Like I said if you’re truly making money online this should not be an issue. Don’t knock off the product if you’ve not tried it out.

And LOL at the people complaining that they have to invest in websites, designing labels, videos and such. Your trying to get a business/brand of the ground. If you think that paying 3k for a course and expecting 100k in return ….. then better stay with your day job

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this and reviewing different courses. Proven Amazon Course (“PAC”) is good value, and it has it’s place, but if you’re interested in the private label business model, I wouldn’t recommend it as a first choice. There are better options out there.

One of the easiest ways to make more sale from Amazon is social media. Pinterest is the best social media where you can get thousands of targeted traffic without spend dime. This is a book I wrote and I shared my strategies, how I went from Zero to 45 thousand page view every month for FREE.

The interesting thing is The Amazing Selling Machine guys have been doing this for 4-5 years in a row, with the same company name and same address. If they were underhanded or crooked or doing anything illegal, they would have had to dissolve and/or change names and/or re-package under a different name, and/or receive a class action suit and/or a big consumer outrage, and I don’t see any of that. I think their offer, program, and money-back guarantee is ‘fair’ and they’ve operated fairly. It’s just their price point is considerably higher than what you can find comparably with (say) Proven Amazon Course (just one example).

Thanks to those you who expressed their opinion and their insight about Amazon selling. I have watched the first three videos and read their PDFs and I feel like I have learned a lot and now I have learned more from this thread.

On IdeaMensch, Matt lays out his strategy even more, noting that, while he started out as an affiliate marketer selling other entrepreneurs’ products and getting a 40-50% profit margin, it didn’t compare to him selling his own product and making a 400-500% profit margin (!).

Even after speaking with people about white-labeling, I still think people don’t seem to REALLY see the big picture. If you are competing against others, you’re going to have going on what I just described above. When you white-label a product, you are insulating yourself from those games. Now you still have to deal with the price issue, but people will pay a higher price for what they perceive to be more popular AND higher quality. If you have a lot of great reviews, then you’ve just given them the perception of both. Nobody selling other people’s products is going to follow-up for product reviews; the most they’ll do is manage their individual feedback scores. As a result, you get the reviews that you get on the products they sell. But if you actively SEEK out reviews, you’ll get them at a much higher pace; maybe .5% of reviews vs. 6% leaving reviews when you’re following. To the buyer, you’re giving the impression that your product is 12x more popular than the competitors.

James yes I agree with you on a couple points, the promotional videos looks hyped up, and yes its made out you dont need to do any work. However, J&M have always said (on webinars), its hard work (if you have never experienced this before) just like any business when to get things moving, plus its on the high price. I know many well known marketers who charge double the price and ship their product – (I can recall a launch happening last year around video marketing). The facts are, this business model will make people money (a big statement, I know) “ONLY” if one puts the work in.

The program is available for anyone who wants to make money online and it is even suitable also for those with regular jobs as once established, you may only need spend a couple of hours per day taking action on the program.

However, I did have a concern that the course is an 8 week course. Does this mean it can only be accessed as they release it? I really don’t like that. I would rather be able to see the course in its entirety and work it at my own pace.

Why only semi? One of the biggest issues with drop-shipping is keeping product costs down. Products that are bought cheaply can generate a hefty profit for the seller once they are marked up. This is exactly how Wal-Mart makes billions of dollars from seemingly low-priced goods.

Hi Todd, I discovered Amazing Selling Machine through Project Life mastery on youtube. I’m not sure if you’ve come across any of their informative “selling on amazon videos”, but it explains how it doesn’t cost that much to create your first niche product. In addition, that it’s not too costly due to choosing a lightweight product to start out with. I was wondering if you would agree with that.

What you will also realize is that you need initial investment of at least $1000 – $4000 to start. But to be super realistic $1000 is not enough. If you want to get desired product most suppliers in China will work with minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 500 pieces. For lower quantity the prices are higher and many manufacturers are not even willing to work with you. So here are all the various costs to consider:
