Why not just create your own sites and rank those for product keywords? I SUSPECT that the product creators will say that it’s because Amazon has better loyalty and higher conversions. But I think the reality is that they know that you are not able to track the amount of sales that come from the SERPS>Amazon, so they can really say whatever they want.
